CNN’s David Gergen: Gore’s Speech Worth Reading, Compares Obama to ...
George W. DANGER WILL ROBINSON! 2="Brian Williams Asks Mrs. I think the Gore speech, he -- while it was way too rushed in delivery, had an awful lot to offer, and was one of the first times anybody in this campaign has spoken seriously to the nation about the potential catastrophe coming from global warming.... Host Wolf Blitzer asked Gergen for his take on Gore’s speech, as well as that of Susan Eisenhower, the granddaughter of President Eisenhower who has endorsed Obama. He praised both speeches, which came in the midst of extended musical performances by celebrity supporters of Obama such as Sheryl Crow: "Well, I must say, Wolf, that as much as all of us enjoy the music, I'm really glad that we've had Al Gore and Mrs. After acknowledging that Eisenhower was a "long-time friend," Gergen rambled on about how both speakers apparently connected Obama to Martin Luther Ki...

Moved by Opening Ceremony, 9-year-old hero
Martin/St. Hopefully, it looked as good to you on NBC as it did to me in the stadium. At times like this, we tend to look at things strictly from an American perspective. Food review: Don’t have one. Been here nearly a week and still have not eaten outside of the Olympic venues. Tried to go to an area called “restaurant street” yesterday. Found a nice-looking place and was ready to order up some chicken ...

Photo Mystery Solved: C’est Chagall!
N.Y. Marc Chagall and his second wife, Vava, in an undated photograph. (Photo: Port Authority of New York and New Jersey) Enlarge this image. After a research-intensive journey that involved our readers, historians, archivists, writers and curators in the United States and France — and even the former Rolling Stones bass guitarist (and accomplished photographer) Bill Wyman — City Room can confirm that an unidentified and undated photograph from the archives of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey depicts Marc Chagall and his second wife, Valentina Brodsky, known as Vava. The identification of the photograph comes from Bella Meyer and Meret Meyer Graber, Chagall’s granddaughters from his first wife, Bella Rosenfeld. Three weeks ago, to mark the 60th anniversary of John F. The Port Authority’s archives were mostly destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001, but based on its preliminary identifications, we originally named a winner of the pop quiz: Sharon, who guesse...
